Miracles do happen. Look no further than the real life story of John Smith. One of the more inspiring and amazing stories you’ll watch this year. Starring Chrissy Metz, Josh Lucas, Topher Grace and Marcel Ruiz. John Smith was supposed to survive a lake accident, but with the power of prayer and his mother’s faith, miracles are possible. That’s pretty much the theme of this film. On the surface it might seem boring watching the main character be on a hospital bed the entire movie, but this movie is anything but boring.
Fantastic cast, with standout performances from Metz and Grace. This film has the ability to make you invest in the story, even if you aren’t into faith themed movies. I didn’t find it to be preachy, but I find it to be powerful and uplifting. A fascinating story that’s brought to life by a talented filmmaker and cast. We need positive and inspiring stories to be told and depicted on-screen, Breakthrough accomplishes that.
