We are in the middle of summer, the summer movie season is still going strong, but you don’t need to be heading to theaters to see some awesome movies. Here is a list of movie releases from July that you should see. This list includes major blockbusters such as Shazam! and tiny shorts like Fish Head. Check out why you should see the following movies:

SHAZAM!:

Shazam! Who knew one word could transform a kids life? It sure did for Billy Batson (Asher Angel), a foster kid turned superhero Shazam, played by Zachary Levi. This is one fun-filled superhero movie, with colorful characters and lots of humor.

Shazam! is part of the DC Universe, so you’ll hear several mentions of Batman and Superman throughout the film. The pairing of Levi and Angel is a good one. They have good chemistry together and their humor clicks. I enjoyed that the story had a lot of heart to it. It wasn’t just a wacky superhero movie, but it had layers of depth to it that touched on self-discovery, friendship, family and love.

As a huge superhero fan and fan of the DC movies, I was blown away by the quality of the story and visuals. Shazam! isn’t hard investing into and connecting with the characters. A high-end superhero movie about a superhero that is often underrated. Don’t sleep on the liquor store scene. It’s outrageously entertaining.
