The Many Saints of Newark may have been one of the most anticipated films of the year. For many Sopranos fans, such as myself, this was years in the making. The prequel to the iconic series features many new characters, some familiar names zlxo, but it’s all about the origins and rise of television’s most notable mafia boss, Tony Soprano.
The film comes from the series creator David Chase and director Alan Taylor, so thee movie is in the right hands, by the people who know the show and legacy of it the best. One of the coolest things about the film is that Michael Gandolfini plays his dad, a young Tony Soprano.
The Many Saints of Newark is a badass gritty crime drama, a little edgier than the show. I found it entertaining and thrilling. It satisfied a long Soprano craving. Now how about that series final scene ending eh?
