In a year of musical revivals comes the Broadway hit film adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen. Several of the actors from the stage version reprise their roles in the film, most notably, Ben Platt, as Evan Hansen. Platt knows this role so well and it shows on screen also.
Dear Evan Hansen is loaded with musical numbers and a story with that carries a message of accountability and acceptance. I didn’t see the play, but the movie carries well. It’s a little lengthy, well over 2 hours, but the musical junkies know it’s worth sticking through.
