I had a chance to see Hot Spot and it’s unlike what you’d imagine it to be. It’s visually appealing and imaginative. I also had a chance to speak to the film’s star Noomi Rapace and director Agnieszka Smoczyńska. We spoke about the movie, Polish cinema, futuristic world that’s bleak and intriguing. Plus, much more.
NOOMI RAPACE:
Been a long time fan of Noomi. She’s fantastic. When I think of sci-fi, she’s definitely top of mind for me. Loved hearing about her genuine excitement and respect she had for Agnieszka and getting to work with her. She also had a glowing review of Polish cinema and wanting to be part of it. That’s a huge ringing endorsement to have a internationally recognized Hollywood star being so complimentary of Polish cinema. Noomi was super pleasant and very easy to speak with. First time speaking with her and it was awesome.
AGNIESZKA SMOCZYŃSKA (ENGLISH):
Agnieszka is one of the most talented and distinguished Polish filmmakers. Not only had she made a mark on Polish cinema, but she’s conquering international cinema. This is an ambitious movie. It was great to get a chance to speak with a filmmaker I have lots of admiration for. Agnieszka and writer Robert Bolesto created a unique world with unique characters. She was great to speak with.

Super wywiad z Agnieszka. Dużo dla mnie wytłumaczyła jak Polskie kino się rozstawilo ostatnich 10 lat. Bardzo ciekawe. Oraz było ciekawe że Agnieszka mało nie kręciła Hot Spot w Polsce, ale na końcu usiadło się na Grecje. Polski kino idzie do przodu bardzo szybko, jeżeli słynne aktory chcą być w Polskich filmach.
