THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB:
Where has Lisbeth Salander been? Well, apparently taking names, because now she’s back and fiercer than ever. Claire Foy takes over Rooney Mara as the “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and she’s out to bring justice and kicks a lot of ass along the way. Think of it as a female Jason Bourne.
Foy just seems like a natural for this role, and she is. Salander is intense and ruthless in her pursuit of the bad guys. This is a lot more action-packed version of the franchise and character. For fans of the previous incarnations, this film might feel like a shot of adrenaline. Lots more action and explosions. Higher intensity. While the other films were a combination of drama and action, this is a lot more unfiltered action.
There is more at stake this time around. It’s not just her personal vengeance, but the world is in danger. Salander is in a superhero mode, which offers a unique twist to the character. The franchise and character is still familiar, but more evolved. This film is a fun ride worth embarking on.
THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital
