Ready Player One is a sample look into the mind of the genius of Steven Spielberg and a trip down memory lane with him. Watching this film feels pretty trippy, as in you’re watching a movie in a video game story via a console such as Xbox or Playstation. Ty Sheridan plays a kid named Wade Watts, living in the tumultuous year of 2045. The events of this film take place in a futuristic world that’s as much techy as it is a wasteland. The action is roller-coaster fast paced.
The key to the movie is in the nonstop 1980’s nostalgia. Easter eggs just seem to come at you at all times, so there is never a moment to doze off and not pay attention. The music and the references will make you want to travel back in time to reimagine all the fun of the 80’s. The plot is a little overdone and lengthy, but with all the nostalgic fun combined with the futuristic sci-fi lust ends up delivering a unique movie experience that spans decades and generations.
