CHAPPAQUIDDICK:

When the name Kennedy is brought up in conversations, it usually has to do with former President John F. Kennedy or his brother Robert, but what’s the story of their other brother, Ted? Well, in Chappaquiddick, Ted’s scandal is revealed. The scandal in question dates back to the infamous 1969 death of Mary Jo Kopechne, who drowned when a vehicle operated by Senator Ted Kennedy drove off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island.

The alleged cover up and web of legal issues that followed the incident are depicted in this film. Jason Clarke does a terrific job portraying Ted Kennedy. The film also stars, Ed Helms, Bruce Dern and Kate Mara. Helm’s in particular plays against type. The usually comedically cast Helms plays in a dramatic role, one that might surprise you to see him in, not trying to be funny. He’s actually solid in the role.

If this movie accomplishes one thing, it’s the evident fact that the filmmaker don’t seem to paint a positive picture of Ted, actually he’s sort of a villain. They don’t do any favors to make Ted look good in this incident. While it’s a slower paced film, it’s pretty interesting and has a few suspenseful moments. For those unaware of the Chappaquiddick incident, or would like to know further about some of the details of it, then this film is definitely for you.

CHAPPAQUIDDICK is out now on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital and On Demand
