Must See Home Entertainment Releases of the Week

The last week of April offers a heck of a release slate of movies. You have a romantic options, a family movie and a gritty crime thriller among others. The following are the must see home releases on Blu-ray/DVD for the week of April 24:

DEN OF THIEVES:

One of the most thrilling and entertaining crime thrillers in years is Den of Thieves. It’s a criminal gang pitted against a top-notch LA police unit. Gerard Butler leads the LA’s finest against Pablo Schreiber and 50 Cent’s crew. The lines are blurred. The cops cross all the lines they can, the criminals do the same, there is no particular good-bad guy here.

I loved how gritty and intense this film is. No holds barred. Lots of action. It’s the plot that really grabs your attention. The built and numerous twists keep you on the edge-of-your seat, literally and figuratively. The film feels as authentic and real as you’d imagine a hostile cat and mouse game between the law enforcement and criminals.

This is one of the best performances from Butler in years. It’s the comeback role that brings his career back where it should be. He’s made to play these hard nosed though assed characters like the one he plays in the movie. Schreiber and O’Shea Jackson Jr. certainly shine in their own light. Director Christian Gudegast really seems to understand the pulse of the film and the genre and delivers a mouth watering crime thriller that rivals Heat. This is a can’t miss film in every way.

    • Alpha Males
    • Into the Den
    • Alameda Corridor
