In this weeks installment of must see movies of the week we take a look at a strong horror movie slate. The week of October 10 offers some good scary movies, just in time for Halloween season. The following are the must see under-the-radar Blu-ray/DVD, VOD and limited theatrical releases.

Be careful what you wish for. That’s one of the messages this film relays. A teenage girl (Joey King) finds a mysterious old box, soon she finds out that the box can make any of her wishes come true. Fun, right? Not really. Little does she know that each wish comes with a deadly price (literally). People close to her will die once each of her wishes comes true. Ryan Phillippe plays King’s father in the movie. So there is that for all you Phillippe fans, such as myself. This film is plenty entertaining. The plot develops with plenty of suspenseful twists and turns. There are some really creepy deaths. You’ll never want to use the kitchen sink garbage disposal after seeing this film. The timing of the release fits nicely with Halloween a couple weeks away. This is a horror you should really check out.

Bonus Features:

  • “I Wish: The Cast Share What They Would Wish”
  • “Attic Tour with Joey King”
  • “Directing Darkness: John Leonetti and Cast Talk About Developing a Horror Film”
  • “Motion Comic: Lu Mei’s Curse and Arthur Sands Reveal The Stories Behind The Previous Owners Of The Box”

Wish Upon is out now on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, Digital HD and VOD

Once upon a time I watched Monday Night Raw on Monday nights. By coincidence I ended up hooked on The Bachelor/Bachelorette. That lead to a Blog at Chicago Now called Bachelor Universe and a podcast of the same name. Now, I've decided to spread my wings and create this site that can be your Bachelor/Bachelorette destination. Aside from The Bachelor, in my personal life I'm a bachelor myself. Looking for the love of my life (not handing out many roses). I'm an avid animal lover. Have a rabbit and two turtles. I'm a film critic and co-founder of the Chicago Independent Film Critics Circle (CIFCC). Lover of sports. Currently residing in the suburbs of Chicago (my hometown).
