This Week’s Prime Home Entertainment Releases

211:

Now if there ever was a personally timely movie release, this would be the one. On the day I move to LA and North Hollywood in particular, comes a movie about a one of the deadliest and bloodiest heists ever. I wasn’t aware of this incident in 1997 that’s referred to as the “Battle of North Hollywood”. The event was one of the lengthiest shootouts between bank robbers and police that ended up changing rules for the law enforcement.

Nicolas Cage stars as a LAPD officer ready for retirement, until he’s lead into this deadly shootout. The film is a raw and intense. It does a good job illustrating the scene of chaos that took place in a seemingly regular Los Angeles neighborhood. For someone not being from Hollywood or California (until now), this was an eye opening event that I wasn’t aware about. If you’re into crime dramas then this film delivers the action you’d expect. A very under-the-radar film that’s worth checking out.

211 is out now in select theaters, VOD and Digital HD
