Must See Movie Releases of the Week (Feb. 27)

Say there was a film where you get a first-hand look following Tom Brady in his final season all the way through the Super Bowl and get an in-depth inside look all along the way? Sounds awesome to me. Well, the Kiwi (New Zealand) equivalent of Brady would be Richie McCaw, the biggest star of the the most popular sport down under, rugby. Chasing Great follows McCaw in his retirement year on the journey that may lead him to a championship.

The cameras follow Richie every step along the journey. The access that filmmaker Michelle Walshe gets is unique to say the least. Walshe gets everything you can ask for from this fairly introverted legendary athlete. For someone who knew nothing about rugby or McCaw prior to seeing this film, I came away with a vast knowledge of the athlete and the sport. It’s fascinating to see the mentality of a top-notch athlete, it’s a great inside look that is portrayed in the film. A well shot and documented film that can be appreciated by any sports fan, especially the vastly growing rugby community in America.

CHASING GREAT opens in select theaters in NYC on March 2, 2018
