BEAST OF BURDEN:
Daniel Radcliffe has made some bold and interesting character and film choices in recent years. Beast of Burden represents yet another intense storyline and character portrayal. In the film Radcliffe plays a pilot whose a drug runner for the Cartel, while being an informant for the DEA and attempting to save his ailing wife. There is a lot going on. The film has similarities to the likes of Phone Booth, Buried and Locke, in where the character is isolated and confined to a specific space, here it being a small plane he’s piloting. The plot is a bit of a slow burn for the first half of the movie then it speeds up and the action ensues. Pablo Schreiber (one of my new favorites since I’ve seen him in Den of Thieves) and Grace Gummer deliver strong supporting performances alongside Radcliffe. Beast of Burden is intriguing, suspenseful and tension packed.
