Antonio Banderas’ career is on a unique resurgence. In my last weekly must see movies review I praised his work in Acts of Vengeance. This time around he plays a polar opposite of that character, by portraying an wacky, eccentric and entertaining aged rock star named Turk Henry. While on vacation in Chile, Henry’s wife Sheila (Olga Kurylenko) gets kidnapped by a group of degenerate thugs. Henry isn’t allowed to pay a the ransom so he must take matters into his own hands and be resourceful in saving his wife. This is a film that knows what it is. Corny. I appreciated that it doesn’t take itself seriously, which makes it all that more fun. There are funny moments and solid action ones also. Gun Shy is goofy and director Simon West (Con Air, Expendables 2) knows that kind of film he’s delivering and does it well.

Gun Shy is out now on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and On Demand

Once upon a time I watched Monday Night Raw on Monday nights. By coincidence I ended up hooked on The Bachelor/Bachelorette. That lead to a Blog at Chicago Now called Bachelor Universe and a podcast of the same name. Now, I've decided to spread my wings and create this site that can be your Bachelor/Bachelorette destination. Aside from The Bachelor, in my personal life I'm a bachelor myself. Looking for the love of my life (not handing out many roses). I'm an avid animal lover. Have a rabbit and two turtles. I'm a film critic and co-founder of the Chicago Independent Film Critics Circle (CIFCC). Lover of sports. Currently residing in the suburbs of Chicago (my hometown).
