Underrated Must-See Movie Release: Spies in Disguise

Spies in Disguise boasts two huge names on the marquee, Will Smith and Tom Holland, yet the movie didn’t seem to get it’s proper acclaim when it released in theaters around Christmas. It’s now out on Blu-ray and Digital for your home viewing enjoyment. Speaking of enjoyment, that movie is just that, enjoyable.

This animated action-adventure stars Smith, who voices the spy extraordinaire Lance Sterling. He’s cool, suave and smooth. Opposite him is his unlikely partner in crime, Walter Beckett (Holland). Beckett is a geeky, uncool and goofy scientist. Basically the opposite of Sterling.

The story gets crankin’ when Sterling falls into the hands of the “biodynamic concealment” experiment that turns him into a pigeon! Now the scientist and pigeoning spy must join forces to save the world.

This film is very funny and entertaining. Lots of good action also. The main characters are likable and actually resemble their real selves. Credit to the animation department for making nailing the actors authentic look into an animated form.

Holland is making a mark with his voiceover work that might begin to rival his Spider-Man fame. Look out for him voicing the main character in Onward. Smith is his usual fun self, just in the body of a pigeon.

With all the laughter and excitement, what I’m hoping doesn’t get overshadowed is the depth and heart that the movie has. It’s really endearing. You pretty much get a little bit with everything in this story. Engaging and fun plot.

Spies in Disguise is an underrated hit. It has it all. Don’t sleep on this title. Pick up a copy and enjoy all the special features it delivers.
