THE CRUCIFIXION:

French director Xavier Gens delivers this chilling thriller, based on true events surrounding a journalist’s investigation into a nun’s death. Sophie Cookson plays the journalist that investigates a priests the crucifixion of a nun. Soon she uncovers that there is a demonic force behind the scandals, as she’s lead on a path of odd events and occurrences. This isn’t your stereotypical demonic possession exorcist movie. There is a legitimate element of a detective tale that unlocks the events as if it was a puzzle that is being put together. I enjoyed following Cookson’s character and she investigates and discovers facts that lead to the culprit of this harrowing murder. This is not a slasher film, but it has genuine creepy moments. I liked the tone and execution (no pun intended) of the plot. The Crucifixion offers something different in a genre that tends to be formulaic.

The Crucifixion is out now on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital
