THE LOVERS:

There are a ton of romance and dating themed movies, but they mainly center around teen, young adult or middle aged people. Rarely do you see a movie center on the dating lives of a couple in their 50’s-60’s. The couple in question is played by Debra Winger and Tracy Letts. They play a married couple on the outs of their marriage, unhappy and unhealthy. They are having extramarital affairs individually. The film tackles issues of affairs, marriage, relationships and it’s all presented in the perspective of two older people. Letts and Winger are terrific in their roles. They are magnetizing and interesting to watch. They make you care about their individual needs, therefore, leaving a debate as to whether their relationship is best intact or separated. This movie is much funnier than you’d expect. A unique film with a unique perspective.
