Looking for a movie with spooky vibes and Christmas spirit? Look no further than Tyler MacIntyre’s It’s a Wonderful Knife. Inspired by films such as It’s a Wonderful Life, MacIntyre and writer Michael Kennedy add a horror slasher spin to it.
I had a chance to speak with Tyler MacIntyre about the film. The movies that inspired it. The masked killers look. The ending of the film (spoilers) and working on Five Nights at Freddy’s.
REAL TALK:
I appreciated Tyler sharing his ideas and being transparent about them. Some directors don’t want to spoil the film in interviews, but he answered my question about the ending and gave his thought process, which I appreciated.
Tyler briefly touched on working on Five Nights at Freddy’s. Apparently he was going to view the film the day of the interview and he was working on it a while back. So didn’t have too much to comment on the film in that regard.
The killer in It’s a Wonderful Knife looks so simple, yet interesting. Tyler gave a nice breakdown of why they went in that direction and how it fit in with the season and theme of Christmas. Usually the slasher villain is dressed in all black and dark masks, but this one was the opposite in all-white and white mask. A fun change-up from the norm.
If you’re into a fun slashers and one with a Christmas theme, this one’s for you.
IT’S A WONDERFUL KNIFE is now available in Theaters November 10, and it will stream on Shudder on AMC+ and Everywhere You Rent Movies at a later date
