A new king of horror has arrived and his name is Damien Leone. The man behind the terrifying Terrifier franchise and arguably the scariest clown ever, Art the Clown. Terrifier 2 was a cult hit and went viral and mainstream. It’s coming back to theaters for another run starting November 1st.

I spoke to Damien Leone about all things Terrifier and Art the Clown. The direction he wants the franchise to go in. His inspirations for the Art. The creation of the character. Plus he teased about the upcoming Terrifier 3.

REAL TALK:

Can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed speaking with Damien. He’s a cool and humble guy. What a creative visionary and great horror mind. He’s really a self-starter and through his grass-roots effort he’s created a powerhouse.

I found Damien’s answers to be interesting and thought-provoking. He has big plans for the franchise and I like it. He would even like it to continue long after he’s not involved anymore. I thought his response to the question about having a bigger budget made a lot of sense. I mean the man is one-man crew, doing the makeup and special effects is incredibly time consuming and hard work.

I enjoyed the story about creating Art’s nose. It was surprising to hear he doesn’t get that question often! How could he not? That nose is the most noticeable and creepiest thing about that clown!

Terrifier 2 is a fantastically gory and blood-filled. Art is the new modern version of the horror villains aka Jason, Freddy and Michael Myers. Most notably Damien Leone is the sort of young creative visionary this genre needs.
