The dynamic superstar duo of George Clooney and Julia Roberts is back. This time they are heading to paradise together in Ticket to Paradise. They play parents who can’t stand each other, but travel a tropical paradise to stop their daughter from getting married to a stranger she meets on a vacation there. The film has plenty of gags and funny moments. Clooney and Roberts are dynamic, especially when they bicker and try to one-up each other. It’s Clooney and Roberts comedic magic, but in paradise. A romantic comedy that will get you smiling and laughing. I was actually surprised by the ending, maybe you’ll be also? Check out the four bonus features. TICKET TO PARADISE arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on December 13
Smile is the freakiest horror thriller of 2022, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Starring Sosie Bacon as a therapist that begins to experience bizarre “smiles” in her patients, that soon engulfs her own life. I thought this movie had genuine chills and creep-you-out moments. It kept me on-edge throughout. Good cast and acting. Bacon does fantastic work making you guess if she’s sane or insane. I had high hopes for the film, but it actually exceeded my expectations. Must-see film. The Blu-ray contains some cool bonus content, so be sure to check that out. SMILE arrives on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on December 13
Does Halloween ever end? Halloween Ends might be the most concrete example that the franchise has come to a stop, at least in the foreseeable future. Halloween Ends brings back the face of the franchise Jamie Lee Curtis and continues on with the story in this trilogy. I liked the inclusion of the new character Corey (Rohan Campbell) who is plenty mysterious and a central figure in the film that adds freshness to this franchise. I thought Ends was creative and added a new spin on the feud between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. A pretty satisfactory ending also. For me this was my favorite Halloween film from David Gordon Green’s trilogy. The film has a ton of cool bonus features, so make sure to check those out when you get a copy of HALLOWEEN ENDS, when it arrives on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on December 27
Kinda hard to believe it’s already season four of Star Trek: Discovery. The show has been moving along nicely. The fourth season A new threat arises for Captain Burnham and the crew of U.S.S. The film is based on a best-selling book from Dr. Meg Meeker, comes Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters. The story of a bond between a father and his daughter that rings true to life. The film has plenty of humor and faith in it. I found it enjoyable and endearing. It shares several valuable messages about parenting, family and faith. It’s a positive film that’s good for the family, especially for you dad’s and their daughters. STRONG FATHERS, STRONG DAUGHTERS is available on DVD and Digital on December 13
The Woman King is a powerhouse of a movie. Viola Davis takes over in a strong and determined role. A true warrior like no other, male or female. It’s based on true events, so makes the story that much more impactful. The cinematography is tremendous also. Outstanding performances. Davis gives one of her best, which is saying a ton. It has very good action and heart. The Blu-ray and Digital comes with special features. THE WOMAN KING is available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on December 13
When you think of Christmas it’s synonymous with cold and snow. Let Elizabeth Hurley warm you up with a dazzling fun romantic comedy, set in the caribbean! After her dream wedding goes horribly unexpectedly wrong, Rachel (Hurley) heads out to a tropical getaway where she might find all the romantic cures she needs in a charming new man. This was a fun watch. I’m a sucker for romantic movies, so it was cool to see Elizabeth Hurley back in one of those. Tis the season for love and being happy, so lets live vicariously through Liz Hurley this holiday season. CHRISTMAS IN THE CARIBBEAN is out in Theaters and On Demand on December 2nd
Call Jane is the right film at the right time. Inspired by true events of Chicago’s underground abortion network, The Jane Collective. Elizabeth Banks stars as a woman facing a life-threatening pregnancy that leads her to the “Janes”. This is a well acted film that’s an important watch. I found the film to have historical significance and educational about a slice of history not often discussed or featured. The Blu-ray and DVD has three bonus features. CALL JANE is available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on December 13
The Banshees of Inisherin is a very unique film. Superbly acted by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as two lifelong friends that have an unexpected fallout that completely transforms their lives. It’s a dark comedy that puts a perspective on the limits people will go to when their lives are turned upside down. The duo of Farrell and Gleeson reunite for Banshees with their In Bruges director Martin McDonagh. The cinematography is tremendous of the coastal Ireland. The film takes you on a emotional journey and will have your attention to the very end. THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN is out on Digital on on December 13, and on Blu-ray and DVD on December 20
Strange World is very imaginative and creative. The Clydes are a family of explorers embarking on a once-in-lifetime journey into the strange unknown. Lots of colorful unique characters and personalities are introduced. You have a blob and three legged-dog, for reference. I thought it was an enjoyable watch, good family movie for the kids. Disney is constantly evolving and venturing into the uncharted, this movie is a great example of that ambition. Dive into all the bonus features and deleted scenes when STRANGE WORLD arrives on Digital on December 23rd
American Murderer is a wildly unbelievable true story. Tom Pelphrey plays the charismatic con-man Jason Derek Brown. Pelphrey is fantastic in the role. On the opposite end is Ryan Phillippe playing an FBI agent that’s tracking down Brown. It’s fascinating watch of a cat and mouse game. One absurd thing leads to another and I had to stop myself frequently to reinforce that this stuff actually probably happened. It’s one of the better under-the-radar thrillers of 2022. The Blu-ray and DVD offer a nice selection of bonus material. AMERICAN MURDERER is available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on December 13
Two of the biggest Hollywood icons get together for an epic head-to-head faceoff in this action thriller. Bruce Willis plays a missing bounty hunter, while John Travolta plays a ruthless power broker. It’s been a long time coming for these two legends to meet on screen (Pulp Fiction). This is a entertaining film. Stephen Dorff and Blake Jenner co-star. It has a lot of action and suspense. PARADISE CITY is available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on December 20
