Summer is coming to a quick end, but the home movie releases are just heating up. September offers some intriguing titles for your home entertainment viewing on digital, DVD and Blu-ray. Here is the best of the movies and TV releases of September.
The god of Thunder is back after an err..uninspiring previous adventure. This time Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is back to his old self and set to face-off against the most dangerous of nemisis known as Gorr (Christian Bale). Bale is spectacular as Gorr, as interesting and intimidating of a villain as we’ve seen in the MCU. Thor also reunites with Jane (Natalie Portman) and have en emotional farewell. Love and Thunder is action-packed and plenty of fun. Lots of comedic zingers also. Loaded with bonus features, you gotta pick up a copy. THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER releases on Digital on September 8, on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on September 27. Elvis has entered the building. This time in the form of Austin Butler playing the King of Rock n’ Roll. Butler is phenomenal as Elvis. Oscar worthy performance. The story centers on the rise of Elvis and his relationship with Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). This film has the sound, glitz and flair that only filmmaker Baz Luhrmann can provide. One of the year’s best films and best Elvis portrayals ever. This is an absolute can’t miss. Make sure to check out the bonus features that come with the film. ELVIS is out on 4K, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on September 13. Mr. Harris went to Paris and she changed the whole game. This sweet, funny and inspiring story of a resilient and courageous woman who stepped up and fought for her dream. The film starts out a little slow, but once it hits its stride it has you falling in love with Mrs. Harris. Well acted with a terrific cast. Even though the film is set in the 1950’s, it’s timeless to watch it. Get the Blu-ray for bonus features, including deleted scenes and a gag reel. MRS. HARRIS GOES TO PARIS is out on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on September 6. How did the life-long friendship between the Minions and Gru begin? In The Rise of Gru, we get to witness the origins of it all. Young 12-year-old Gru and his quest for world domination. Fans of the franchise will surely enjoy this throwback that takes place in the groovy 1970’s. P.S. You’ll also see Gru with a full head of hair! Plus, the Minions are as wild and wacky as ever. Make sure you pick up a copy for all the special bonus features. MINIONS: THE RISE OF GRU is out on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on September 6. One of the iconic 80’s films has to be The Lost Boys. Starring Kiefer Sutherland and the two Coreys (Haim and Feldman). Before the vampire crazy erupted, this was the original vampire cult classic. Now, for the first time the film will be available in 4K resolution with HDR. The Blu-ray contains a bunch of previously released special features. THE LOST BOYS is available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray Combo Pack and Digital on September 20 The’re here! Ok, more like it’s here. Halloween season is upon us and one of the great spooky season films and horror classics is getting a brand new 4K treatment. Poltergeist, written by the great Steven Spielberg (yes that Spielberg) is the original and ultimate paranormal movie. It looks and sounds great in 4K and it comes with special bonus features. POLTERGEIST comes to 4K UHD, Blu-ray Combo Pack and Digital on September 20. Kung Fu is back! Season two of the The CW series brings back all the familiar faces from season one, including the star of the show Olivia Liang. Season two starts six months after the events that ended season one. Nicky is in love with Henry. Nick and Shens relationship is tight. So what’s the problem? The reemergence of Russell Tan! This show is fun and action filled with a talented cast. This season doesn’t disappoint. Pick up the DVD to get all 13 episodes and see the gag reel. KUNG FU: THE COMPLETE SECOND SEASON is out on DVD, Digital and HBO Max on September 27 Queen Latifah is The Equalizer on CBS. Now, she’s back for the second season. Latifah plays Robyn Mccall, in the second season her character is faced with personal and professional issues. She is having issues with her daughter Delilah, which is one of the central storylines of season two. Will she end her run as The Equalizer to fix her personal problems? Get the DVD and see the gag reel and deleted scene. THE EQUALIZER: SEASON TWO is out on DVD on September 20 It’s season five of the Seal Team. Starring David Boreanaz of “Buffy the Vampire” fame. The four-disc DVD features all the episodes, a gag reel, deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes featurettes of the exciting fifth season. In the fifth season the seal team faces missions on foreign territories, as well as close to home. See the team battle terrorist attacks and nuclear weapons. SEAL TEAM: SEASON FIVE is out on DVD on September 13. Thomas Magnum (Jay Hernandez) is back and roaming the island of Hawaii solving cases alongside his partner Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks). The fourth season is just as exciting as the previous three. This season features stories where the Magnum P.I. team are helping a judge that’s been blackmailed, attempting to crack a mysterious triple homicide case, plus much more. Jay is really good in this role, originated by Tom Selleck. It’s one the prime shows on CBS and keeps going strong. Get it on DVD, which features deleted scenes and a gag reel you haven’t seen before. MAGNUM P.I.: THE FOURTH SEASON is out on DVD on September 13. Based on true events, Cave Rescue tells the story of a boys soccer team that was trapped in a cave for 18 days. This tension packed intense story shows the remarkable effort of heroism from Irish cave diver Jim Warny (played by himself). The film was actually shot in the original locations, which ads another element of realism. This film is inspiring and will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat, literally. CAVE RESCUE is out on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on September 13 Season four of Cobra Kai is the battle for the Valley. Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang join forces in an attempt to take down Cobra Kai. Loser must hang up their gi, so there is a lot at stake. Daniel and Johnny try to bury their beef with each other, while Samantha and Miguel and holding onto their alliance. Needless to say, lot is at stake individually between the characters and a control of the Valley is at stake. This is as good of a season as any prior, so where things end as season five is set to arrive. COBRA KAI: SEASON 4 is out on DVD on September 13.
