Dating Amber rocks! As I mentioned in the previous interview with director David Freyne, Dating Amber is one of my favorite films of 2020. One of the big reasons for that is due to the lead actress Lola Petticrew, who plays Amber.
I had a chance to speak to Lola recently regarding the film. She spoke to me about the film, what drew her to the role and how the role of Amber changed her life. Also, how working alongside Fionn O’Shea turned into a real friendship off the set.
REAL TALK:
Lola was lovely. She looked very stylish in her outfit, as if she was going to an event not a Zoom interview with me. Much appreciated. I found her to be transparent and polite. Just seemed like a nice person and someone you’d wanna be friends with.
She was fantastic in the film. Her chemistry on-screen with Fionn O’Shea was terrific, so it was awesome to hear that it translated off-set and they are now close friends. Very cool.
I appreciated hearing her speak about how the role made helped her with her own sexuality. Seemed like it was one of those life changing roles that meant a lot to her and helped her realize things about her and her sexual orientation. That’s fantastic.
What I loved about this feel was how authentic it felt and how genuine it was. You can relate to these characters. I found myself rooting for Amber and Eddie. It also had great humor and a fabulous soundtrack.
