One of my most anticipated recent films, Jungleland, lived up to the hype. Max Winkler’s Jungleland is one compelling and gloomy story of two brothers trying to survive the daily grind of their bleak lives. The film stars Jack O’Connell, Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Barden.

I had a chance to speak to Max and Jessica about the film. They discuss the chemistry and bond the lead actors formed. Max talks about the why he decided to tell this story. They both talked about their version of the ending (SPOILERS). Plus, they share their personal hobbies and movie recommendations.

REAL TALK:

This was a lot of fun for me. I previously interviewed Max a while back when he was promoting Flower. He’s a smart and interesting guy. Loved talking about Chicago food with him. He certainly knows the right spots. Johnnie’s Beef is one of the great underrated Italian beef spots in Chicago. It’s my personal favorite, looks like it’s a favorite for Max also.

Jessica was a little late to the party, but made a great bright entrance. Jessica seemed pretty cool to me. She gave some great interesting answers. I loved her honesty and transparency. Seems like she really bonded with Charlie and Jack and really explained why.

One of my favorite parts of the interview was asking Max and Jessica about their favorite qualities about another. They gave wonderful answers. No doubt they have a lot of admiration and respect for each other.

How wild is it tha Jessica lived with Fionn O’Shea and Hayley Law! Two actors she worked with prior, who are also having movies released currently. Small world. Awesome fun fact also.

I enjoyed speaking with Max and Jessica. Two rising talents in their respective professions. Unfortunately, Jessica got cut out by the connection towards the end of the interview, you may have noticed. Jungleland is fantastic. Jessica is terrific in the film and Max delivers a gritty dark drama with interesting characters and a storyline that grips you till the end.
