One of the biggest groundbreaking events in wrestling history is officially going to happen. All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) have announced a joint PPV event called Forbidden Door. The event will take place on Sunday, June 26th.

Expect plenty of dream matches pitting your favorite AEW stars against the stars of NJPW. Adam “Hangman” Page vs Kazuchika Okada? Jon Moxley vs Tetsuya Naito? Bryan Danielson vs. Will Ospreay? CM Punk vs Kenta? So many dream match possibilities!

“As the world continues to reopen, I’m making sure the Forbidden Door follows suit and we can finally give fans the dream events they’ve always imagined,” AEW CEO and founder Tony Khan said.

The event will take place in Chicago’s United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks. It’s also the same arena CM Punk made his AEW debut last year.

REAL TALK:

This is going to be a must-see event. AEW and NJPW have allowed their talent to appear on each others shows during the past 24 months. Every match has the potential to be a dream match. It will be interesting to see what titles or stipulations will be added to certain matches. How will the matches come together?

Will there be feud “Double or Nothing” will take place over Memorial Day Weekend, so a month prior to “Forbidden Door”. The fallout from “Double or Nothing” should play a big part in what is set for “Forbidden Door”.

I can’t wait to see this. I’m so thrilled that Chicago was selected as the location for this event. Not only is it my hometown, but it’s undoubtedly the epicenter of wrestling. The most passionate fans of wrestling will be able to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event, live and in-person.
