Screenwriter Mattson Tomlin is becoming one of the most in-demand screenwriters in Hollywood. The man that is co-writing the upcoming The Batman film, has another potentially hit on his hand. It’s called Little Fish. The trailer just dropped for the movie and it makes an definite impression. Check it out below and hear my thoughts on it.
REAL TALK:
Is it me or does this film have an eerie vibe that hits close to home with the current state of the world in this pandemic? Little Fish looks like a haunting sci-fi romance that contains as much mystery and suspense as it does in giving you the feels. To me, that’s a great formula.
Jack O’Connell and Olivia Cooke lead the way. That’s a great pairing on-screen that oozes with talent. Apparently Jack’s character is diagnosed with this mysterious memory loss virus called “NIA”. The symptoms of the condition, just a mere loss of memory details. Such as a pilot forgetting how to fly! Chilling visual in the trailer with the plane descending and the people flocking and rabidly trying to get inside a medical facility. Creepy.
Looks like Cooke’s character luckily avoids contracting this virus and she attempts to help regain her husband’s (O’Connell’s character) memory. Her tattoo of a fish is the symbolism that might be the link to his memory.
I like how the trailer just gives you enough information to know what the plot is, but doesn’t give away anything major. Lots of suspense to digest and figure out. This trailer left me with high expectations for this film. Could be a gem. I’m excited for the release of Little Fish!

‘LITTLE FISH’ will release in Theaters, Digital and VOD on February 5, 2021
