Home Entertainment Movie Pick of the Week: The Hunt

Read Time:1 Minute, 32 Second

There are about a dozen ways The Hunt can be described, each one would probably be accurate. Putting it plainly, it’s The Hunger Games meets The Purge. Twelve people wake up with no idea where they are or how they got there. Nope, it’s not after a wild night partying and bar hopping. A bunch of elitists are behind this unusual phenomenon, aka hunting humans for sport.

You just knew that with a concept like this the mind of Jason Blumhouse would have to be behind it, add Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse, have director Craig Zobel in the lead and you have yourself a very entertainingly unconventional and controversial gore fest.

There is plenty to dissect when it comes to this movie. It’s bloody, very violent and sataric. It’s a very dark comedy with a surprising number of laugh inducing moments. At the core, the film is heavy on it’s political messages. Watch it to interpret it your own way.

A fantastic cast lead by the likes of Hilary Swank, Betty Gilpin, Justin Hartley and Emma Roberts adds another punch to this violently enticing action thriller. Watch and enjoy at your own discretion.
