It’s crazy to think that it’s been 45 years since Steven Spielberg’s shark blockbuster hit graced the big screen. It’s considered one of the first summertime “blockbuster” and Spielberg’s first major success.
Jaws was a true game-changer. It still resonates today as people are still afraid to go into the water, in large part due to this film. Now that’s staying power. The images are iconic. The jaws of the shark as ominous and terrifying as anything you can encounter. I’m getting chills writing this and visualizing the impact Jaws had on me.
The name itself say it all, simply titled. Jaws. That’s more than enough to imprint the images in your mind for generations. It’s a pulse-pounding thriller that transcends time. I mean they have the Jaws pond on the Universal Studios tour. That movie score and theme, dundun..dundun…dundun you know that melody. Gives me chills every time.
What was supposed to be a summer popcorn flick, turned into one of the great cinematic classics with a huge cult following. I always wondered what a large poll ranking would be on what was Spielberg’s greatest blockbuster. Where would Jaws place among the likes of E.T. and Jurassic Park? I’d say no further than number two.
For the first time ever, coinciding with he 45th anniversary, Jaws will be available on 4K Ultra HD. The visuals are must-see. This is the kind of movie that you want to experience in the highest definition. The combo pack comes packed with great bonus content.
