Miroslav Barnyashev, know to most as “Rusev” is one of WWE’s biggest superstars on Monday Night RAW. Rusev has been involved in one of the hottest and most controversial storylines in wrestling, along with his real wife C.J. “Lana” Perry. He also appears in the recently released movie Another Version of You. I spoke to Miro about the storyline, his evolution as a wrestler and his pursuit of an acting career, plus much more.
REAL TALK:
I had a blast talking to Miro. He was extremely kind and down-to-earth, actually kinda surprised me. He’s this big Bulgarian brute on television, but he couldn’t have been any more nicer and soft spoken. I really appreciated how candid and open he was with me.
I have so many takeaways from our conversation. He was very transparent about the current angle he’s involved in. I really appreciated hearing his honest thoughts on it. I was curious to know how he felt about his wife kissing another man on live television, but he really explained how he treated it like it’s them acting. Makes a lot of sense.
I really respect Miro’s drive to be a serious actor. He really sounded like he’s committed to the craft and instead of taking the easy way out through his celebrity, he’d rather earn it thought studying the craft and earning auditions. Lots of respect for that.
Another thing I learned about him was that he was a man of faith. I never read or heard that about him, so it was cool to hear how faith and religion are an important part of his life.
One of my favorite parts of our interview was hearing him speak about meeting C.J. and how they began dating. Such a cool story that was a good lesson on how to approach dating.
Miro was a pleasure to speak to. Very relatable and engaging guy and he carries himself with humility. Couldn’t have been any cooler.
