Jaeden Martell and Asa Butterfield are undoubtedly two of the premiere talents in Hollywood. Both guys have starred in big blockbusters, but they also have ventured into the independent film space, seeking out complex roles and creative projects. They star together in the fascinating film Our Hero, Balthazar.
I spoke to Jaeden and Asa about the film and their wildly polarizing characters. Plus, I asked Asa the question that’s been floating around for years, was he runner-up to Tom Holland for the role of Spider-Man? He finally ended the speculation, so check out the interview below to find out!
I spoke to Jaeden a couple times prior, but this was my first time speaking with Asa. What I appreciate about both of these guys is that they keep it real. Both seem to be authentic and cool dudes. It was interesting to hear how Jaeden processed his characters journey and his feeling about the character.
So finally Asa solved the Spider-Man casting mystery. Maybe he did prior? But I didn’t hear about it. I mean we know he was up for the role, but I had no idea Jaeden apparently was also?! Wild.
These two lit up the screen in Our Hero, Balthazar. It’s one of those movies that’s super intense and stays with you. Fantastic, career best performances from Jaeden and Asa.
