The Chicago Stars made some big headlines today when the club announced has named Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanson, IL. This will be the club’s new home for the 2026 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). This news coincides with the Stars playing this weekend’s match against Orlando Pride at Martin Stadium.
“This move to Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in 2026 marks a historic step for the club and a new era for the Chicago Stars,” said Chicago Stars President, Karen Leetzow. “This is just one step in a series of changes, including the recent hiring of renowned head coach, Martin Sjogren, exciting international player acquisitions and other incredible initiatives that are soon to be announced and will set the club on a new trajectory. I invite fans from around the Chicagoland area to join us September 7 to get a preview of 2026 and to sign up for season ticket memberships next year to join us on this next great journey.”
This is pretty big and vital news for the Chicago Stars, as their lease at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview was over at the conclusion of this season. It’s a big win for them to secure Evanston as their home for next season. It’s going to be a stadium that’s far more accessible for fans. It’s also a very nice stadium that’s situated right on the lake. Count on some pretty views at Martin Stadium, which seats about 12,000.

It’s important to note that at this point it’s only for the 2026 season. The assumption is that if next season goes well for both parties, there very well could be an extension for following seasons, especially since Northwestern football will be moving into the new Ryan Field, which could also be a potential home for the Stars.
