Hulu just dropped the first two episodes of the highly anticipated limited series, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. The series chronicles and documents the story of Amanda Knox and how she was charged with murder of her roommate in Italy and the years of the story that unfolded until her innocent verdict.
It’s a fascinating story and one that captured attention internationally. Hulu will air eight episodes starting with the first two on Wednesday, August 20. I spoke with some of the cast of the show, including Giuseppe De Domenico who plays “Raffaele Sollecito” (Amanda’s Italian boyfriend) and John Hoogenakker who plays “Curt Knox” (Amanda’s father). Check out the interviews below:
GIUSEPPE DE DOMENICO:
I really enjoyed speaking with Giuseppe. Found him to be thoughtful and engaging. He did a fantastic job translating the from Italian to English in character on the show. Pretty difficult task while trying to act at the same time. So seems like Giuseppe did make some contact with the real Raffaele Sollecito and he mentioned he plans on reaching out again and gauging his take on how he played him on the show. It was cool hearing him speak about the moment he had filming with Grace Van Patten where they both simultaneously shed a tear together. I can only imagine what the director and showrunners reaction was while seeing it on-camera. Pretty cool.
JOHN HOOGENAKKER:
John is a big Chicago theater star, we also went to the same college, so naturally there would be an immediate connection. He’s an accomplished stage and TV & film actor. He plays Amanda Knox’s father in the show. He did a great job on the show and shared some interesting perspectives with me on the case and playing Curt. He made a great point of how the outlook on the case has changed now with all the podcasts and social media, which weren’t as available and prominent when the case started.
THE TWISTED TALE OF AMANDA KNOX limited series premieres Wednesday, August 20 with two episodes. New episodes stream Wednesdays on Hulu until the series finale on October 1
