Angel Studios is becoming one of my favorite studios as they produce inspirational movies based on true stories and real life heroes. In their latest film Sight, that hero comes in the form of renowned eye surgeon Dr. Ming Wang. Dr. Wang’s story is inspirational in itself from his tough humble beginnings in China to becoming one of the world’s greatest eye experts.

I had the privilege to speak with the actual Dr. Wang and the man who plays him in the film, actor Terry Chen. I spoke to Dr. Wang about his thoughts on Terry playing him, and I asked Terry what it was like to portray the Dr. Wang. They spoke about the film and Dr. Wang extended a very gracious and kind gesture to me.

REAL TALK:

This was one of the most special interviews I’ve ever done. Not only was I moved and inspired by Dr. Wang, but I shared with him about my sisters recent hospitalization for a serious eye injury. I was so moved and taken aback when Dr. Wang offered to provide help for my sister. I mean, things like this just never happen. It was a very emotional moment for me to experience that kind of a kind gesture in time of need. I will be forever thankful for Dr. Wang and his help. Life changing experience for my family and I.

I was so invested in the interview and thrown off by my emotions of speaking about my personal situation with my sister that I regrettably referred to Terry as “Tom”..twice. Embarrassing moment for me, but Terry being the gracious individual didn’t even correct me or bring to attention, saving me from embarrassment. I thank him for his graciousness also. Point being, these two men really seem to be great people.

Terry also shared a story about his infant sons complications and how Dr. Wang was right there with him assisting him with help. So much irony. The timing of my personal situation and getting to speak with Dr. Wang, Terry’s unfortunate family situation, but once again Dr. Wang being available to help. Just pretty incredible.

As for the film, I really enjoyed it. Terry was fantastic, as was the rest of the cast. Dr. Wang has given sight to some special individuals, which is the greatest gift you could ever give someone. I encourage everyone to see Sight and be inspired by Dr. Wang’s life story.
