Crime junkies, this one’s for you. Hulu’s latest dazzling new limited series Under The Bridge is a can’t miss show! Based on true events of the disappearance and murder of Reena Virk. Inspired from the books by the late Rebecca Godfrey and Manjit Virk’s book. Developed for television by Quinn Shephard. The series stars Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone, along with a talented group of young actors.
I had a chance to speak with the people involved with the show, creator Quinn Shephard, showrunner Samir Mehta, stars Chloe Guidry, Vritika Gupta, Javon Walton and Aiyana Goodfellow. They spoke on the story of the show follows, working alongside each other and the real Reena Virk.
QUINN SHEPHARD & SAMIR MEHTA:
Interesting conversation with Samir and Quinn. I got a laugh out of them when I compared Under the Bridge to another excellent show Samir was showrunner for that streamed on Hulu, Tell Me Lies. I’ll stand-by some of the similarities and feel between them.
I didn’t know that Quinn spent significant time with Rebecca Godfrey, who is a character in the film. Seems like this production was very resourceful in having Rebecca be a significant part of it along the the influence of Manjit Virk. I thought Samir and Quinn were very cool and easy to speak with and had fun personalities.
VRITIKA GUPTA & AIYANA GOODFELLOW:
These girls had great chemistry together and seems they had a genuine fondness for each other and friendship. Vritika seemed a bit shy and probably not accustomed to doing press, while Aiyana was more outgoing, but equally polite and had an aura of maturity about her you don’t see in young people.
Seems like the girls were very much feeling the intrigue and excitement about the script and story. They did a great job. It’s a huge role for Vritika to take on for an actress that’s still new to the industry. Credit to the young people in this cast, they nailed their roles.
CHLOE GUIDRY & JAVON “WANNA” WALTON:
Javon just has a vibe of coolness to him. Thankfully Chloe is nothing like her character, she seemed very sweet, but credit to her for transforming herself into “Josephine Bell”. Chloe and Javon had noticeable chemistry together. So not surprising they hung out while shooting the show. Damn, is it me or they have great chemistry with each other?
Javon nicely elaborated on his awareness of the shows darkness and how he approached it. I was familiar with Javon through his work on Euphoria. He’s a fantastic young actor. Like I mentioned the young actors in the show are all fantastic, but Chloe came out looking like a star. She was so good and compelling as Josephine, really showing her range. I thought she was outstanding and certainly this show and role will be the launching pad for her career. She’s literally the star of a show that has Riley Keough and Oscar nominee Lily Gladstone on it!
REAL TALK:
Under the Bridge is one of the best shows streaming on any platform currently. It’s addicting and compelling. My sister and I are hooked on it and can’t wait for Tuesday nights to watch when a new episode drops. It’s a must-see show. Fantastic performances and tragic story.
