Sam Richardson is one of the best rising comedians in the business. While he is known for his strong and scene-stealing supporting roles in movies and television, Richardson is getting the chance to play the leading man alongside Brittany Snow in Hooking Up.
I spoke to Richardson about his role in Hooking Up, his chemistry with Snow, his start at Second City, plus more.
REAL TALK:
Sam was awesome to chat with. Very personable and intelligent. I have enjoyed his work for a while. Aside his stellar work on Veep, he’s had memorable performances in movies such as Good Boys, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Office Christmas Party and more.
He went a lot deeper and elaborated about working on Hooking Up, than I expected him to. That was interesting to hear. Sam is a Second City alum and that’s a place I have great respect for, especially being from Chicago. You can tell he valued his experience there by the way he talked about it.
My favorite part was when we talked about the hookup culture and how this movie made an impact on me. Sam and I talked about the hookup culture and he made that clever comparison to food and eating. I thought that was a great analogy.
I really enjoyed my convo with Sam and look forward to catching up with him again. If we had more time I was gonna ask him about the upcoming movie Promising Young Woman. I’m looking forward to seeing it whenever it’s gonna end up releasing. For now, while we are staying at home and protecting against coronavirus, check out Hooking Up. It’s a lot more enjoyable than you can imagine.
