Reaction: First Look at Robert ‘Bat Pat’ Pattinson as Batman!

Huge news came out this evening. Matt Reeves, the director of the upcoming The Batman dropped a huge peak into the Batman costume that Robert Pattinson will be donning in the film. Some big names for the cast have already been confirmed. Zoe Kravitz will be Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler and surprisingly Colin Farrell as the Penguin, for starters.

The film is still a year and a half away, so lets more coming our way. Ok, so onto the reveal. What are my immediate thoughts? Let’s dive into it.

‘THE BATMAN’ Robert Pattinson Batsuit Reveal

REACTION:

First of all, Michael Giacchino’s dark and brooding Batman-esque score is perfectly fitting for this. The slow paced reveal had me on the edge-of-my-seat for the 50 some seconds of this trailer.

The mood of the scene is great. Pitch dark that turns into a hazy red photo room. Makes it difficult to get a full clear glimpse, but it adds to the mystery of this reveal.

The logo looks cool and modern. It has elements of previous ones, but more edgy. I really like the emblem with BATARANGS inside the logo. That’s pretty badass.

Now onto the main part, the cowl. That mask looks cheap. Like a dollar store mask you’d get your kid last minute. It’s basically a leather mask, something that Daredevil might wear, but not Batman. Just unlike anything we have seen Batman wear.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:

The suit looks modern and cool, but the mask throws it all off. Can’t possibly be a biker cowl eh? Maybe this is just a test look at it all. The final costume might be very different than this version we are seeing now. Let’s hope so, for the sake of that leather 1920’s football helmet cowl. At least we get an early look at “Bat Pat” in a Batman costume, which is cool in itself. Keep it coming Matt Reeves!
