LAFC took care of Cruz Azul at BMO on April 7th with a convincing 3-0 win. So a confident squad headed to Puebla, Mexico for the second leg. LA took care of business in the second leg with a 1-1 draw. A 4-1 aggregate is an impressive feat for LA, without dropping a game.

Up next, it doesn’t get easier. In comes arguably the most imposing team in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, in the form of Toluca who handedly took care of the neighboring Los Angeles team on Wednesday night. Toluca beat the Galaxy 3-0 and advanced into the semis on a 7-2 aggregate.

Yes, the dream LA “El Trafico” was close to reality on paper, but the games proved otherwise. LAFC was able to withstand a good Cruz Azul team, while the Galaxy couldn’t contain the powerful Toluca.

Soccer fans will get a final like matchup in the semis, with arguably the MLS best team in LAFC versus Liga MX top club, Toluca. This will be a mouth watering matchup.

As exciting as the Toluca matchup is, LAFC need to keep their top of the table spot in MLS competition, especially coming out of their first loss of the season in Portland, last weekend. This weekend LAFC hosts the surprising San Jose Earthquakes, who have been battling at the top of the western conference.

The road will just keep getting harder for LAFC. Champions Cup is down to the final four, and teams are keeping a bullseye on LAFC in league play. Marc Dos Santos guys will need to keep that same focus and confidence that got them to to top of the table and into the semis of CCC.

Plenty of magical moment are ahead for LAFC, but they need to go through their toughest obstacles they have faced yet. Buckle up for the ride, it’s coming fast.

LAFC face San Jose Earthquakes at BMO Stadium on Sunday at 4 PM local time, and can be seen on Apple TV
