Big night in Hoffman Estates on Matas Buzelis night. Not only was there an exclusive Buzelis card giveaway, but the man himself was surprisingly in the lineup for the game against the Dallas Mavericks affiliate, Texas Legends. Buzelis didn’t waste time giving the fans what they came for with 7 quick point and an impressive slam.
Buzelis isn’t the only Chicago Bull in the lineup for Windy City tonight, Julian Phillips also making a start for Windy City. A strong quarter from the Chicago Bulls. Emmanuel Miller makes his Bulls home debut tonight. The recently acquired Miller, joined the Bulls last week on a two-way contract.
A good back-and-forth first quarter, at the end of the first, 25-21 Texas Legends. Whenever the Bulls make it close, Texas keeps them at a distance with timely stops and buckets.
At halftime, Legends with a lead. The Chicago Bulls youngsters Buzelis and Phillips have showed up tonight, double digit points for each heading into halftime. Aside from Adama Sanogo, seems like some of the regulars have moved aside to let the NBA guys take the reign. Good news for the Bulls is that hey are within striking distance of the Legends.
Windy City started out the third by forcing Texas into some hurried shots and a few airballs. Buzelis had been off on his shots from beyond the arc. Bulls couldn’t close the gap enough in the third and head to the fourth down five, 69-64.
The Bulls fell apart in the closing minutes of the 4th. Bulls had a chance in the final minute of the game, but couldn’t convert and make a big basket. Costly turnovers and some clutch shots by the Legends withstood the big performances from Buzelis (21 points and 9 rebounds) and Phillips (18 points and 12 rebounds). Bulls fall to the Legends 98-95.
PLAYER OF THE GAME:
It was Matas Buzelis night, but it was Julian Phillips who was the Bulls player of the game with a strong double-double with 18 point and 12. Phillips showing off his potential not only for Windy City, but the Chicago Bulls. It be nice to see Phillips and Buzelis get more run with Windy City. Get some valuable minutes and work on their game.
NOTES:
Chicago Bulls Patrick Williams was in attendance watching his teammates, Buzelis and Phillips. Williams sat front row for the entire game. He seemed to have been enjoying himself, taking several pictures with fans and signing autographs. Very cool to see Williams come out and support his guys.
UP NEXT:
In 24 hours the Bulls will run it back with the Legends. This is a common back-to-back in the G-League schedule. It will be interesting to see if Buzelis and Phillips remain with Windy City or will they be sent back to the big squad for the big Derrick Rose night at the United Center, also tomorrow night.
