Nasim Pedrad is not only a phenomenal actress and comedian, but she’s a bold creative innovator. Look no further than her Roku series Chad. Pedrad takes a completely original and eccentric transformation into the mind and “body” of a teenage boy.
I spoke to Nasim Pedrad about immersing herself into Chad. What to expect in season two. Plus, all the Chad-isms.
REAL TALK:
It was my first time connecting with Nasim, she was great. Very sweet and engaging. I enjoyed speaking with her. It’s pretty clear that she realizes the polarizing nature of her playing Chad. She’s very self-aware and understood that people might have a negative reaction to the show and character and it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
It was also clear that Nasim is passionate about the show and proud of it. Roku picked up the series and the second season, after the first season debut a few years back on TBS. Certainly the show has had a journey of its own.
I thought that Chad might have originated as an SNL sketch while Nasim was on the show, but that’s not the case. She said the idea for “Chad” came after she left SNL.
Chad is a weird and interesting show at the same time. It’s an original idea and Nasim commits to the Chad!
CHAD Season One and all 10 episodes of Season Two is currently streaming for free on the Roku Channel
