Cat Person might be one of the most fascinating character studies films of 2023. A dramatic thriller that explores the modern horrors of dating. The film stars Succession’s Nicholas Braun and Coda’s Emilia Jones and is directed by Susanna Fogel.
I spoke to Susanna Fogel about the film. We explored the world of modern dating and how it relates to the film. She spoke about the performances from Jones and Braun, the fascinating sex scene that takes place in the film, plus much more.
REAL TALK:
This was a fun and interesting interview and Susanna was present and engaging in the conversation. I did like her take on if she would have dated the character “Robert” in the film. I thought she had a great perspective response.
The sex scene that takes place in the film is one of the more fascinating and unique ones I’ve seen, especially the way it was shot and depicted. Jones’ character “Margot” reflects on her immediate thoughts during sex and has a conversation with her conscience. I thought it was so clever and creative, but also very insightful, not only for the character, but for the viewer.
The movie is super interesting and highly recommended watch. Very good performances from Jones and Braun. The script was thought-provoking and Susanna’s directing was on-point. Cat Person offers an insightful perspective on modern dating and it’s troubles.
