You may recognized Lili Wexu from shows such as Grey’s Anatomy or Netflix’s 21 Thunder, but you also probably heard her voice without even knowing it. Lili is an accomplished veteran voice actor whose voice can be heard in the “Assassin’s Creed” video game franchise, and she also was the announcer for 2010 Olympic Games! Lili has worked on the camera side and behind the microphone, so she has taken her knowledge and experience and decided to help out other aspiring voice actors.

I spoke to Lili about her journey from on-camera acting to voice acting. She shares in depth advice on how to break into the voiceover industry. What steps you need to take. What materials you’ll need. How to get started. Plus, much more. I spoke at length about the voiceover world and her e-book series Get Clever About Voice Acting & Announcing.

REAL TALK:

I enjoyed speaking to Lili. She was super gracious with her time and sharing her knowledge and experiences. I thought she offered a ton of great valuable advice and insight into voiceover work. As a fan of the “Assassins Creed” video game series, I definitely now know where her voice was utilized (Courtesans).

I was interested to find out how she got her start in the voice acting world and she shared her story with me. I can’t imagine how cool it would be to be the stadium announcer for the Olympic Games! Especially in her home country of Canada at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. What a career accomplishment that very few in this world can claim.

The advice Lili shared about breaking into the voiceover industry was immeasurable. I felt like I experienced a full understanding of this industry and what it entails to be successful in voiceover work. From the software and equipment needed to how you can record your demo and how to submit for jobs. It was fantastic stuff.

I have read her e-books and they offer great information on voice acting and announcing. Lili is also an expert contributor on Backstage.
