Movie Pick of the Day: Queen & Slim

Read Time:1 Minute, 35 Second

One of my favorite movies of 2019 was Queen & Slim. It has stellar performances, a compelling plot and socially significant timely content. Some will compare it to a modern day Thelma and Louise or Bonnie and Clyde, but this movie is better and it depicts the issues of racial profiling that’s still happening in America.

Two single young adult African-Americans meet on a Tinder date. Of course it doesn’t go well. It’s a Tinder date after all. The Tinder date leads them on a wild journey together. Running for their lives and bonding along the way.

Queen & Slim is fantastic all around. Stellar performances from Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith. They carry the movie and breathe life into their characters. Great on-screen chemistry.

The story is vital and eye-opening. The film keeps you guessing with the twists and turns along the way. It kept me on-edge from start to finish. Not much to dislike about Queen & Slim. One of the most underrated movies of 2019.
