We are into the first week of August and it’s off to a good start with home entertainment movie releases. This week a furry yellow powerhouse delights and an evil spirit returns. Check out this week’s must see Blu-ray, DVD and Digital releases.

POKEMON DETECTIVE PIKACHU:

The detective has arrived, all of a few pounds and barely two feet of him. Most won’t recognize him as a detective, but merely as Pikachu! The fuzzy, yellow furball that can unleash a ton of force if you mess with it. The legendary Pokemon character gets his first live-action film.

In the movie Pikachu, voiced by Ryan Reynolds (fittingly) joins forces with a teenage boy named Tim (Justice Smith) to uncover the truth behind the mystery of Tim’s father’s disappearance.

Detective Pikachu is a fun and enjoyable film. Lots of your favorite colorful Pokemon characters appear throughout the film. I liked the decision they made to place humans among the world of Pokemon living side-by-side. The Pokemon CGI looks great also. It’s pretty entertaining and visually appealing. Detective Pikachu nails the essence of Pokemon while adding a nice spin with the original story and characters.

“POKÉMON Detective Pikachu” 4K UHD Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack contain the following special features:

  • Detective Mode
