Read Time:1 Minute, 53 Second

Jodie Foster is one of the most recognized actors in the world. In the last few years Foster has stepped back a bit from on-camera work to behind-the-camera work. Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blache is her latest project in which she serves as the executive producer and narrator for. Reel Talker was at the LA premiere of the film and Foster along with dozens of notable guests were in attendance. I spoke to Foster along with some of the featured guests.

REAL TALK:

I enjoyed being part of this event. There was a great turnout with some notable names in attendance such as filmmaker Peter Farrelly. It was really cool to speak with Alice’s family members, which included her great-great granddaughter Tatiana Page-Relo and Bon Channing, an in-law of Alice’s.

Jodie was really cool and seemed very happy to be there. It was interesting to learn about her passion for reading and how she admitted to moving away from her on-screen career and focusing more behind the the camera work. She’s been a fantastic director to this point. Looking forward to seeing her getting more involved behind-the-scenes.

Pamela B. Green is the writer and director of the film and it was good to hear her perspective on the project and the insight from her co-writer Joan Simon. Both ladies shared some good perspectives on their reasoning to tell this story of Alice, as well as their personal inspirations, such as the late great Agnes Varda.

I had a funny moment with producer Lee Broda, asking about her involvement in the film, but she was just there to support it. It was a nice fun moment. Lee offered some great insight on her experiences being a female producer and how things have changed in recent years. It’s good to know firsthand from someone right in the core of the industry.

Fun night, encourage everyone to see this documentary about a pioneer many never heard of.
