August comes to an end, but it provided us with plenty of movie choices to indulge in. Some recent releases that you can’t miss includes a comedy with an all-star cast of women, along with a crazy true story you’ll have to see to believe. Here are the recently released recommendations to enjoy during your Labor Day Weekend.

BOOK CLUB:

An iconic cast of Hollywood’s most esteemed leading ladies comes together in this feel-good comedy. Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen and Mary Steenburgen play four lifelong friends who venture into the some ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ for their book club. The book transports them into a whole new chapter of their lives, as they live out some of their fantasies, face truths in their lives and open up to new experiences. Director Bill Holderman (Chicago guy) and writer Erin Simms really center the film on the characters and their relationships, with each other and in their individual lives.

Usually I’d just suggest a movie like this for my mom and her friends, but as much as it would seem that it’s geared to a older female demographic, it’s really not. I found this film to be highly enjoyable. It’s fun to see these legendary actresses let it loose and have fun. They play good-natured flawed women that are relatable in many ways. Individually facing life issues like marital problems to dating in today’s online world. There are dozens of hilarious scenes that are both charming and funny.

Book Club is a film most can enjoy if they come into it with an open mind and don’t judge the book by it’s cover (no pun intended). It’s lighthearted and touching at the same time. These characters are coming to terms with the missing aspects of their lives and how to navigate them. It exemplifies that even as we grow older and wiser, we still have so many things to figure out, learn and adjust to in this world. Check this film out, with your mother’s. It will be a great experience.
