This week’s must see movies offer a nice array of selections. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski put the fear in silence into you, while Senator Ted Kennedy’s deepest secret is exposed. Check out these home releases for the week of July 10.

A QUIET PLACE:

Horror thrillers get a stigma about lacking fresh new concepts, but don’t group A Quiet Place among them. Director and actor John Krasinski (Jim from “The Office”) delivers a chilling horror thriller by using the simplicity of silence. Yes, there are few lines spoken in the entire film. No, it’s not a silent movie in the form of the 1920’s Charlie Chaplin, it has sound, plenty of it actually. What it doesn’t have much of is dialogue. As crazy as it sounds for a film in 2018 not to make much use of dialogue, it works in the case of this film.

Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt star in the lead roles and really deliver some fine performances that feature more physicality than words spoken. The sounds and look are key to this movie. The tension is where it gets you. Krasinski uses the build of tension to scare the crap out of you. It’s clever and ingenious how this movie doesn’t miss a beat without the usually necessary dialogue. Credit the innovation and concept that works really well and opens up new possibilities

A QUIET PLACE is out now on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital
